Plans to improve leisure and landscaping in Brough Park unveiled

Plans for a project to deliver active environments and improve the connections between MyActive Leek and the surrounding Brough Park, by blending formal and informal physical activity, have been unveiled.
Sport England has invested over £300,000 into the scheme and is working in partnership with Staffordshire Moorlands District Council to develop designs, after proposals to enhance movement, leisure and landscaping received a positive public response during last year's consultation.
The Council and Sport England are now delighted to share new illustrative visuals showing what's in the pipeline - and we're interested in hearing what you think.
Councillor Matt Swindlehurst, Cabinet member for Leisure and Tourism, said: "The re-development we're carrying out now will provide state-of-the-art fitness, swimming, and wellness facilities indoors and we want the area around the centre to offer opportunities for people to be active in different, perhaps less formal, ways.
"I'm delighted that we can now share these illustrations which show the sort of things we're talking about so people can understand what we're planning and give their thoughts and comments.
"Moving more leads to better mental and physical health so schemes like this which complement the more traditional options for being active are increasingly important. It's fantastic that, together with Sport England, we're showing what's possible. What we're delivering at Leek really is leading the way."
Lisa Dodd-Mayne, Executive Director for Place, Sport England said: "The MyActive Leek facility is a prime example of the smart way in which we're investing in places and spaces across England to support more people to be physically active.
"These visuals really bring the scheme to life. Our investment will ensure that, on one site, communities across Leek and the surrounding Staffordshire Moorlands will be able to access sport and leisure opportunities, a brand new swimming pool, first class facilities for children and young people, council services, and a thriving community space.
"Importantly though, our investment will also improve links and access to the nearby open spaces and surrounding Brough Park. This will open up many more informal opportunities for people to be active for their physical and mental wellbeing."
