The work has been funded by the UK Government as part of a wider programme of regeneration in the town

Butter and Trestle Market

This project has seen the Victorian Butter and Trestle Market refurbished to broaden the appeal of the markets to a wider range of customers and traders and provide creative and artistic space for community use.

Works at the Trestle Market include:

  • 3 new food and beverage lock-up units. We're delighted to have welcomed The Slamwich Club, Scrumbles Cake Shop and Nanny J's to Leek.
  • replacement of the trestle tables with lighter weight alternatives
  • addition of a further entrance to allow the two market halls to operate independently and enabling weekend and evening events to be held in the Trestle Market.

At the Butter Market Hall, the Victorian character of the shop fronts has been restored to improve the customer experience and provide modern, flexible retail units.

Supporting the Councils net zero target, solar panels and air source heat pumps have been installed along with replacement of the Trestle Market roof to improve insulation.

Customer safety, comfort and security has been improved at both market halls with the installation of Wi-Fi, CCTV, insulation and heating.
