Pay your council tax

You can pay in many ways including online, Direct Debit or by phone

Pay by Direct Debit

Paying by direct debit is the easiest and most secure way of paying your council tax bill. You can choose to pay on the 1st, 15th or 30th of each month, over 10 or 12 instalments dependant on the number of months remaining in the financial year.

To apply for a Direct Debit you will need to create or log in to a Staffordshire Moorlands online account. If you don't have one already, click the button below and register. If you already have an account with us you can also log in here.

Once you've registered for an account, go to the 'Submit a request' tab and search for the Council Tax - change your payment method form. Once you have completed this, you will be able to view your bills online.

Changing your direct debit information

If you need to change your bank details, instalment dates or payment frequency, you can submit a Council Tax - change your payment method from within your online account.

Paying online is easy and secure.  We accept all major credit and bank cards.

You will need your council tax account number which you will find on your council tax bill.

By Phone

You can make payment using all major credit and debit cards by phoning our 24 hour automated payment line 0345 605 3016.

Making cash payments (via a payment card)

We provide a plastic payment card for making payment at any Post Office or specified PayPoint outlets. Cash cannot be accepted at council offices.
