Brough Park Outdoor Active Environments
Information on the development of the outdoor space at Brough Park
Staffordshire Moorlands District Council is pleased to announce that we have secured a grant of £308,000 from Sport England's Active Environment Demonstrator project. This funding will help us create a high-quality, accessible outdoor space that encourages people to be more physically active—supporting healthier, happier communities and more active lifestyles.
As part of the wider redevelopment of Brough Park Leisure Centre, we are now focusing on enhancing the space directly outside the building. During the original consultation for the leisure centre, we received valuable feedback from local residents, which has informed a range of design ideas for this new outdoor area.
The aim is to create an inclusive, welcoming 'activation zone'—a thoughtfully designed space that encourages movement, social connection, and active travel between the leisure centre, the park, and the wider town. The outdoor development will run alongside the internal refurbishment and is scheduled to be completed in time for the leisure centre's reopening in 2026.
