Tree management

Our policy and management responsibilities

Our responsibilities

We are responsible for trees on land we own or manage, such as our parks and open spaces.

Trees growing from pavements or public highway verges are normally the responsibility of Staffordshire County Council Highways.

Trees in school grounds are normally the direct responsibility of the school concerned.

Some privately owned trees are protected by a TPO or a conservation area and consent may be needed before any work is carried out on them.

Tree management

We manage our trees through inspecting trees and by carrying out tree works to abate unreasonable risks presented by our trees.
