Staffordshire Moorlands councillors appoint new Chairman and Vice Chair
Councillors at Staffordshire Moorlands District Council have elected a new Chairman and a Vice Chair to serve for the 2025/26 civic year that runs from May to May.

Councillor Adam Parkes was appointed as Chairman and Councillor Linda Malyon as Vice Chair.
Their appointments were made at the Annual Council Meeting held on 14 May.
The new Chairman, who is Staffordshire Moorlands' First Citizen, is a former teacher who runs his own education consultancy and is the CEO of a mental health charity. He represents Biddulph North on the district council and was previously the Vice Chairman.
In his acceptance speech he said that he will be supporting two charities operating locally and therefore directly benefitting Moorlands' people. They cover areas he is passionate about: mental health and young people and are Leek and District Samaritans and Biddulph Youth and Community Zone.
Councillor Parkes replaced outgoing Chairman, Councillor Ian Plant who represents Cheadle West. He remarked that he had undertaken 150 events during his year in office including attending the annual Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace last week.
Councillor Malyon represents Ipstones and was previously the Chair in 2000/01.
