Bandstand and benches at Brough Park given makeover

Published on 27 May 2022

With summer just around the corner and many of us planning outdoor activities, improvements to amenities at Leek's Brough Park have come at just the right time.

As part of its ongoing commitment to providing high quality parks and green spaces, Staffordshire Moorlands District Council has undertaken renovation of the bandstand the benches throughout the park.

Both the bandstand and 18 benches have been repaired, where necessary, and freshly painted to get them looking at their best.

Councillor Mark Deaville, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Leisure and Sports, said: "Brough Park has an important place in so many local hearts as a valuable green space to spend leisure time in a natural environment, take part in sport, play and enjoy the programme of local events that take place there.

"We want to invest in the park to ensure it remains a special place. So the work we've done to renovate the bandstand and the benches throughout the park mean they are looking at their best and ready to welcome people for the foreseeable future.

"The Friends of the Park do an excellent job in helping to look after it and so I was particularly pleased to join Councillor Sue Coleman, who is also a volunteer with the Friends group, to see for ourselves this excellent renovation work.

"The next event in the calendar is the ever popular Party in the Park so it's great that these improvements have been completed in time for that. I know that those who enjoy music, live events and just being in the park will appreciate them."

The Party in the Park takes place on Sunday 5 June during the weekend of celebrations to mark the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.
