There are a number of schemes and grants available that may be able to help you with your fuel bills or to make your home more energy efficient.
Warm Home Discount Scheme
You could get £140 off your electricity bill each winter under the Warm Home Discount Scheme. Householders are entitled to a one off discount of £140 off their winter electricity bill if they are on the Guarantee Credit element of Pension Credit, or on a low income.
The discount has to be claimed each year by the householder from their supplier on a first come first served basis. Each supplier closes their scheme once all their discounts have been allocated.
The discount will not affect your Cold Weather Payment or Winter Fuel Payment.

Cold Weather Payment
If you're receiving certain benefits you may be entitled to a Cold Weather Payment. These are different to Winter Fuel Payments and are paid if the average temperature for your area is recorded as or forecast to be zero degrees Celsius below for 7 consecutive days.

Winter Fuel Payment
If you are aged 65 or over, you may be eligible for a Winter Fuel Payment of between £100 and £300 to help you pay for your heating bills. This is usually an automatic payment but you may need to make a claim.
