Council proud to support poppy appeal once again

The commitment and bravery of the nation's armed forces remains a strong focus for the nation's conscience and Staffordshire Moorlands District Council is once again proud to be lending its support to the annual poppy campaign.

This year, The Royal British Legion is asking the nation to Rethink Remembrance by recognising the sacrifices made not just by the Armed Forces of the past, but by today's generation too.

The Council has made a donation to the appeal and operational services vehicles are displaying giant poppies as they do their rounds.

Councillor Arthur Forrester, deputy council leader and cabinet member for the environment, said: "The poppy appeal continues to hold an enduring appeal for people of all ages as a mark of respect and remembrance for the bravery and sacrifice shown by our armed forces both past and present.

"The Council is proud to lend its support to this annual appeal and this is the ninth year we've done so. Waste collections are something that every household in the Moorlands benefits from so I hope people who see our collection vehicles dressed in this way will support the appeal in their own way and take a moment to remember our armed forces."
