New images show MyActive Cheadle redevelopment plans

New images showing what users of MyActive Cheadle have to look forward to when the centre undergoes a major redevelopment have been released.

Staffordshire Moorlands District Council is funding the upgrade and modernisation of the leisure centre as part of the programme of transforming leisure facilities across the area led by the Leisure Working Group chaired by Councillor Ian Plant.

The plans include:

·       A brand-new fitness suite bringing together the two existing spaces

·       A new dedicated, immersive indoor cycling studio

·       A new large additional group exercise studio

·       A fully-refurbished four court sports hall

·       A new active wellbeing suite focused on supporting people just starting out, being referred for exercise by their GP or health professional, or who may be recovering from surgery or illness

·       Fully refurbished wet and dry changing facilities

The Council and its leisure partner, MyActive, now want to hear what people think of the emerging plans as the project moves to the next stage of the design process.

Councillor Matt Swindlehurst, Cabinet Member for Leisure and Tourism, said: "I'm delighted to share these images showing what people can expect from these major improvements at MyActive Cheadle.

"The centre is much-loved but in need of significant investment so it's good to be progressing with the development of the plans. I'd like to thank the working group for their efforts to get us this exciting next stage.

"We want to provide everyone in the Moorlands with the opportunity to move more every day and to lead active lives so it's important that the people who use the centre, and those will use it the future, are able to help shape what we deliver in Cheadle.

"More information about what we're planning is available on the Council's website and on display boards inside the centre. We're also asking people to complete a short online survey to tell us what they think about the proposals and share their views and we look forward to hearing your thoughts."

The survey is open until midnight on Sunday 26 July. Responses will then be considered as the project moves to the next design stage.
