Council Annual General Meeting takes place on 13 May at 6pm
All residents are welcome to view this meeting either from home online or by joining us in the Council Chamber at Moorlands House.
A key item of ceremonial business, conducted at the start of the meeting, is to complete the handover from the existing Chair of Council to a newly elected Chair for 2026 -2027
The role of the Chairman is one of service, representation, and community leadership, bringing people together and promoting businesses, community groups and helping to celebrate special occasions and landmarks in people's lives. The Chairman serves as civic ambassador, supporting local organisations, attending community events, encouraging volunteering, and bringing people together across all parts of the district. The role carries a proud non-political tradition of promoting the values, spirit, and the identity our beautiful Staffordshire Moorlands.
This evening is not only a formal handover, but also a celebration of the people who make our community strong — residents, volunteers, local groups, businesses, and public servants who contribute so much throughout the year.
Sincere thanks goes to the outgoing Chairman, Councillor Adam Parkes for all the work he and his consort, Katrina, have done throughout the year. Cllr Parkes will reflect on his year as Chair at the meeting.
