Council takes The ASB Pledge to support Moorlands victims

Anti-social behaviour can have a devasting effect on the health and wellbeing of individuals and the wider community - and here in the Moorlands, the District Council has demonstrated its commitment to putting victims first by signing The ASB Pledge.

National charity ASB Help introduced The Pledge to address differences in the administration and delivery of ASB Case Reviews across the country. It encourages all the agencies involved in addressing frequent reports of ASB to embed best practice into their policies and procedures and to put victims at the heart of the response.

Councillor Bill Cawley, Cabinet member for Communities, said: "I'm absolutely delighted to sign this Pledge on behalf of the Council. It sends out a clear message that we take ASB seriously and we will support anyone who reports persistent incidents in the Moorlands.

"Too often, victims can feel unheard and continue to suffer from ASB even after they have made authorities aware of their experiences. Strong partnerships are key to the successful management of ASB cases and by joining the network of organisations here in Staffordshire that have signed The Pledge, we are showing our strong, unwavering resolve to support the victims of anti-social behaviour."

Staffordshire is one of the first counties where all the local authorities have signed The Pledge together with the Police and supported by the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner.

The Pledge runs for three years until February 2028 and the Council has also signed up to an independent Chair arrangement with the County Council for the hearing of ASB case reviews when submitted.
