Improving amenities at Church Road, Biddulph

Work to upgrade the amenities at Church Road in Biddulph is now complete - and the District Council is pledging further improvements to come.

The Council has recently completed work to refurbish the multi-use games areas (MUGA) giving it a fresh new look and relocated play equipment located in an area prone to waterlogging to a more suitable area close to the play space.

Additionally, the surface of the play area has been repaired and new accessible play equipment, including a roundabout and a seesaw, have been installed.

The Council is also exploring options for a new, modern pump track on the existing site and reinstating the lighting on the MUGA to allow it to be used in the early evenings in darker months. Any lighting installed will be designed to minimise light pollution and avoid direct impact on nearby homes.

Councillor Matt Swindlehurst, Cabinet member for Leisure and Tourism, said: "The latest improvement works we've carried out at Church Road are part of the wider programme of investment in this area, in line with our policy of delivering quality parks and green spaces that the whole community can enjoy.

"By providing new, accessible equipment and relocating play equipment to a more suitable location, we're providing people with opportunities to get outdoors and be active - something we all know is good for us and something we're actively encouraging all our residents to do.

"And this isn't the end of our investment here in Biddulph - we're looking at installing a new pump track and lighting on this site so that people can make full use of the facilities at dusk and into the early evening. Look out for more details coming soon!"
