Heritage Grants

Grant assistance is available to help with the costs of reinstatement and enhancement of historic features throughout the district. The grants are targeted towards schemes not otherwise eligible for funding from other sources.

Who provides the grant?

Grants are administered through the Moorlands Partnership Board; a body which includes elected Members and representatives from Parish and Town Councils.  The Moorlands Partnership Board has a remit to encourage environmental improvement schemes throughout the district, but normally outside the Peak District National Park Authority area.

Are there any conditions?

Grants will be considered if:

  • any enhancements or reinstatements provide public benefit
  • features make an important contribution to the character and appearance of urban and rural scenery

Examples of projects include restoration of wells, reinstatement of traditional shop fronts and enhancement of prominent building facades.

How much will I get?

The normal rate of grant is up to 75% of eligible works with a maximum grant of £8,000, whichever is the lesser. The exact rate of grant will be based on the availability of other sources of grant aid or funding, total cost of the project and the importance of the work.  Any group, private individual or Parish Council can apply.

What happens after I submit my application?

A Regeneration Officer will contact you to discuss your grant application and the proposed scope of works. If the work is eligible then your application will be presented to the Moorlands Partnership Board, which meets 3 times a year.

Who should I contact for more information?

If you would like to discuss a grant application please contact the Regeneration Team.

Further information on eligible works and grant conditions can be found on the Guidance Notes [156KB] .
