Landlord accreditation scheme

The Landlord Accreditation Scheme is a voluntary and free scheme for all private landlords who have rental properties in the Staffordshire Moorlands.

The aim of the scheme is to:

  • provide a set of standards for privately rented properties
  • make sure that tenants and their neighbours enjoy good accommodation conditions
  • involve landlords in the development of the scheme
  • encourage tenants to identify properties that could become accredited
  • persuade landlords with properties below the standard to make improvements
  • recognise neighbourly behaviour and reduce misunderstandings and disputes

Landlords who sign up to the scheme must make sure they comply with the requirements of the scheme, along with their own legal obligations.

Benefits and incentives for joining the scheme:

  • use of the accreditation mark in promoting and advertising their properties
  • access to help and advice from qualified housing professionals
  • regular e-Newsletters
  • access to grant funding, when available, to improve their properties

We are developing a scheme to offer accredited landlords access to a range of local business and services for priority or discounted services. We hope to launch this within the next 12 months.

Accreditation grants

Grants of up to £2,000 are available to members of our registered Landlord Accreditation Scheme to improve their properties and bring them back up to standard. Grants also cover improving energy efficiency, security and fire safety.

Grant funding is dependent on available council funding - at the present time we can can provide this.
