Welcome from Richard Wigginton (MRICS) Head of Capital Projects, University of Nottingham
Richard will be providing delegates with detail of the University's recent and future capital investments, covering the procurement process and exploring some of the changing requirements put upon suppliers, particularly in relation to the growing demand to deliver low carbon/sustainable buildings.

Michael Sharratt, Chief Executive, Teropta Limited - I_REAP Project
The I_REAP Project is about Artificial Intelligence use within the Built Environment and is based upon the real time performance monitoring of buildings for energy usage. I_REAP will:

  • Monitor the building primary parameters or energy usage, temperature, humidity, VOC's air quality, external factors such as temperature/ rain etc
  • Gather feedback from internal users on building comfort
  • Review these against the expected performance of the building derived from a BIM model
  • Feedback to control the building to minimize energy usage whilst maintaining a comfortable surrounding
  • Feed this info into a model of the building which has then suggestions for the way the building could be improved together with a likely cost analysis of cost to modify and payback times - hence generating a building financial running costs model.
  • All this is displayed in a graphical format. The monitoring will be using the Internet of Things (IoT) sensing systems for a minimal intrusion into the building fabric, and can be deployed retrospectively.
