Growth Strategy

The Growth Strategy has been developed by Staffordshire Moorlands District Council and Staffordshire County Council and sets out a plan for sustainable growth and identifies development opportunities over the next 15 years. It demonstrates our commitment to regeneration throughout the area as well as the delivery of the Local Plan.

Background: The Local Plan & Draft Growth Strategy

The Draft Growth Strategy has been prepared to provide the strategic vision and context to development proposed in the Local Plan and identifies key actions to achieve the vision. While the Local Plan identifies where the development should be, the Growth Strategy identifies how it could be delivered and what benefits can be achieved.

Draft Growth Strategy proposes to focus on five key areas for intervention:

  • Housing delivery
  • Business & Employment growth and skills
  • Visitor economy and town centres
  • Health & well-being
  • Connectivity

Consultation

The Draft Strategy was consulted on between June 2018 and September 2018 and a revised version was reviewed by Service Scrutiny Panel on 21st November 2018. The final version was approved by Staffordshire Moorlands District Council's Cabinet on 4th December 2018.
