Anna strikes Peak Gold
I was born and spent all my childhood in Leek in the Staffordshire Peak District. The natural beauty that
surrounds it is part of my identity.
My childhood memories are full of the landscape I live in… cycling along the Manifold Valley, scrambling
walks at The Roaches and shopping in Leek.
My love of the landscape drew me back to The Roaches for my geology project at university –
and I spent two happy months up on the rocks!
When I visit now, it’s a wonderful place to recharge. I’ve spent many productive hours training on my bike,
picking routes through Onecote and Longnor for hill climbs and miles of glorious heather.
There’s a great variety in the Peak District – from the lush green valley of Dovedale to the spectacular
desolation of the moors – so it’s the perfect location for a revitalising Great Escape.
