The Cabinet is the decision making body of the Council, responsible for giving effect to the council's policies and spending the budget. It is elected by council, normally at its annual meeting in May of each year.
The Cabinet takes decisions collectively, therefore, the Portfolio Holders do not have individual delegated powers.
Cabinet meetings normally take place monthly and in public unless the business to be discussed is confidential or exempt under the Local Government Acts.
