We are inviting you to get your camera out and have some fun in the Moorlands. Take photographs of where you live, your friends your family, things that inspire you, what you think is fun, exciting, unique, interesting and beautiful about your locality.  

It's all part of the Big Picture campaign happening across the West Midlands . You may've seen it on the BBC website or on the television ( BBC programmes - The One Show, BBC News at Six) or maybe you've heard about it on BBC Radio programmes.

Big Picture is a photography based project organised by Audiences Central and Arts Council England to help you get involved in cultural activity and be inspired by the people in your lives and the places where you live work and play. People are taking thousands of photographs and they all being compiled in to a massive photo album - the biggest in the World. So get involved in the Big Picture and help make the Moorlands part of photographic history!

By using a digital camera, or camera phone you can get immediate results and upload them straight on to their website - seeing your creative talents appear with a click of the button. There are photo tips on the http://www.inthebigpicture.co.uk/ and ways of getting 35mm and disposable camera images uploaded too.

Participants completing the Big Picture Questionnaire can win Jessops vouchers ( photography and digital media retailers) and we are holding a fun competition called "Spot the Elephants" - where you can photograph all the elephants around Leek town centre (YES we said ELEPHANTS !) Let's get the Moorlands featured strongly in the photo album - you've only got one month, so why stop at just one photo? - Once you've started, carry on - upload hundreds of pictures!

We have compiled a list of events in Leek town centre and around the Moorlands during May 2008 to stimulate your creativity and help you to look at the town in a different way. Appreciate the architecture, see the beauty in people's faces, or capture the curious ...like the elephants! A lot of events in the "Inspiration" list are taken from the Leek Arts Festival programme.
